Work by Stuart SHELL

My major concern in the design of an apartment building for Miami, FL was the cooling requirements for comfort. The strategy is to keep the facade open as long as possible to welcome the breeze, which considerably expands the comfort zone. There are various states of envelope closure, depending on the weather. Much of the work below seeks to explain how the building performs, its mechanical systems, and the resulting spaces.
